Rationale
The colour scheme I chose to use is Charcoal grey, Pink and blue. I chose these colours because I think they balance out the genre of my target audience. I chose the charcoal grey because I think it makes the background of the cover stand out more and creates the mood for a younger target reader. The connotations my colour scheme will create is bright and vibrant texts and also quite dramatic colours on the dark background to show that the magazine is effective inside as well as just the front page. They also contrast dramatically, the pink and blue on the dark grey jump out at the reader making it very eye-catching. I also added green outline to the photos of the cover to make them look highlighted and glowing.
My images for my magazine cover are very much related to my genre which is R&B/Pop. The images are captured in party atmospheres or backstreets. These create connotations of fierce but fun material and nature. The body language used is natural and realistic, such as young people at parties or concerts. These photos also make the reader believe that all they have to do is read the magazine to find out exactly how easy it is to have a good time.
The mis en scene of my cover will show a collage of celebrities as well as normal every day student/ young adults, this will create a connection between the reader and the models/subjects mentioned, however the celebrities will create interest for the reader as there are many inspirational celebrities that young readers will look up to.
The image connotations of my magazine will be very positive however will bring a across a attitude, this is because it will relate to the majority of younger readers and also make them more tempted to read the magazine. However the magazine would not have a negative feel from the attitude created because of the brightly coloured texts and lettering to catch the readers eye. The setting of my scene will relate to the celebrity lifestyle because people are interested in celebrity life and having a setting of this will be very persuasive. Celebrities are very inspirational because of their success and therefore would make the reader enticed into reading the magazine.
In my magazine I am using a variety of text usage to benefit my magazine and attract buyers. For example I am using lines such as ‘Ri-Ri’s devilish ways’ which is very persuasive. This text would be persuasive because it makes the buyer want to know more creates a feeling that they’re the only person that would know the big secret. My mast-head is ‘Beats!’, I think this name is catchy and young material R&B is a very low beat genre which relates to the magazine.
