Madonna Double page spread

i like this double page spread because i think the colour scheme and textures bring out the celebrities personality and conntate that she is fierce and bold. The heading cash for questions also suggests that such a succesful and highly maintained celebrity is very hard and expensive to interveiw and therefore the magazine is made to look good for getting her, also the bold writing 'Madonna' makes it obvious to the readers who the interview is about, the colour stands out from the dark background emphasising that she is the main/big topic.
I also like the image of Madonna because of the colours matching the colour scheme of the magazine, this makes the magazine look like she has been asked to wear them clothes deliberatley to match the article and therefore she put effort in making it look as though ut was also important to her.

Brief analysis of questions

From the 2 magazines i have realised that the cover represents a great deal about the magazine, also the type of subjects that are included in the magazine show exactly what the reader would be interested in, therefore if a magazine was about fitness it would be obvious that the reader would be interested in keeping fit and therefore more than likely to be single and want attentions from the opposite sex, that would also show that the reader would probably be young and sociable.
There are many different things to look at when evaluating the type of reader of a magazine, the headlines and masthead tell a great deal about the magazine, eg, 'Mens Health' this is clearly a mans magazine and obviously a man that is interest about his health.
also the photos and mdels make the reader easier to know about, if there is a photo of Miley Cyrus of the font page it makes it obvious that the reader is young as the fans of miley cyrus would be young as her music is quite pop and therefore of a younger audience and to country etc.

Rationale

Rationale
The colour scheme I chose to use is Charcoal grey, Pink and blue. I chose these colours because I think they balance out the genre of my target audience. I chose the charcoal grey because I think it makes the background of the cover stand out more and creates the mood for a younger target reader. The connotations my colour scheme will create is bright and vibrant texts and also quite dramatic colours on the dark background to show that the magazine is effective inside as well as just the front page. They also contrast dramatically, the pink and blue on the dark grey jump out at the reader making it very eye-catching. I also added green outline to the photos of the cover to make them look highlighted and glowing.

My images for my magazine cover are very much related to my genre which is R&B/Pop. The images are captured in party atmospheres or backstreets. These create connotations of fierce but fun material and nature. The body language used is natural and realistic, such as young people at parties or concerts. These photos also make the reader believe that all they have to do is read the magazine to find out exactly how easy it is to have a good time.

The mis en scene of my cover will show a collage of celebrities as well as normal every day student/ young adults, this will create a connection between the reader and the models/subjects mentioned, however the celebrities will create interest for the reader as there are many inspirational celebrities that young readers will look up to.

The image connotations of my magazine will be very positive however will bring a across a attitude, this is because it will relate to the majority of younger readers and also make them more tempted to read the magazine. However the magazine would not have a negative feel from the attitude created because of the brightly coloured texts and lettering to catch the readers eye.  The setting of my scene will relate to the celebrity lifestyle because people are interested in celebrity life and having a setting of this will be very persuasive. Celebrities are very inspirational because of their success and therefore would make the reader enticed into reading the magazine.

In my magazine I am using a variety of text usage to benefit my magazine and attract buyers. For example I am using lines such as ‘Ri-Ri’s devilish ways’ which is very persuasive. This text would be persuasive because it makes the buyer want to know more creates a feeling that they’re the only person that would know the big secret. My mast-head is ‘Beats!’, I think this name is catchy and young material R&B is a very low beat genre which relates to the magazine.

Brief magazine analysis

•Who are the audience? How do we know this? Tell me more detail about the audience.
The audience of this magazine are more than likely aimed at 16-25 year olds, this is because the main image is of Amy Winehouse, this is a well known singer with a fan base of a younger age, this would entise the younger generation to buy it, also the text on the cover would suggest that the magazine was aimed at a younger reader, 'The diva and her demons' this would appeal to a teenager/ young adult as the majority of young adults would be interested in this sort of subject.
•What is the text selling?

The text on the cover is making the reader believe that everything about Amy winehouse will be revealed by '..her demons', this would make the reader more interested about reading the magazine as it gives off the impression that every little detail about the singers life will be revealed.

•What sort of attitude/tone does it have?

i think the magazine has a very laidback tone. The light blue mast head gives off a very calming feel also the white background makes the text all 'pop' off of the page, this would catch the readers eye as the dark font of the text it in antithesis to the white background.

•Consider the ideology of the texts – what is valued/believed in?

The text makes the reader believe they are getting all the details on Amy winehouses life as she is the main theme of the magazine cover, also the text says 'diva and her demons' this gives off the impression that although she is a very successful celebrity she also has 'demons in the closet' this makes the reader feel connected to the storyline of the interview and therefore creates interest in the demons amy winehouse has.
